I had queries on how I make these so decided to do a post on it complete with instructions and pictures :)
First off, this flower was invented by my firstborn. What I did was only to slightly refine it and added a new element to make it more dimensional. So what are the materials you need?
1) Colorful pipecleaners
I got them as a huge pack of different colors from ArtFriend then added some individual packs of colors that I know I will need more like green (for the stems) and favourite color pink.
2) Sparkly pipecleaners from Daiso
These comes in 100 in a pack, about 10 colors in each pack and they are half the length of the regular ones I got from ArtFriend.
3) Pompoms from Daiso
These are small sized ones, about 2.5cm in diameter.
4) Liquid glue
5) Ribbon
To start, select a green color pipecleaner for the stalk and a desired color for the flower.
Hold the 2 ends together, give a spacing of about 5cm and twist them together.
Bend the twisted section into a circle and start to twine the flower colored pipecleaner around it to form the shape of a flower.
Repeat to make as many such flowers as necessary and adjust the stalks accordingly. You may also wish to trim the stalks to different lengths for a better presentation as a bouquet of flowers.
Choose a desired color of sparkly pipecleaner to make the decorative heart shape. Bend the pipecleaner in the centre and curve the 2 sides to form a heart shape. Bring the 2 ends to the center and twist them together. Adjust into a heart shape.
Use another sparkly pipecleaner to secure the heart to the stalks by looping them over and under for both sides.
Trim a length of ribbon enough to tie a ribbon and tie it onto the stalks.
Mission accomplished!
Its a simple and easy to make craft with your kids :) Just be vigilant of the sharp ends of pipecleaners especially for younger kids. You can also add some elements such as sparkly powder onto the flowers itself or use soft colored tissue paper to wrap your bouquet. You can even add a small bear to the ribbon as a sweet touch :) For a gift, you can also add a tag looping through the ribbon for your message or wishes.
Have fun!
